Dashboard

How the Dashboard screen works and what you can do here

The Dashboard is the general starting point for day-to-day activity in SmoothPay. It's what you see each time you login to the software.

It houses two components:

  • Taxable pay bar chart

  • Pearls of Wisdom

The Dashboard screen, with Taxable pay & Pearls of Wisdom highlighted

Taxable pay bar chart

This area is a bar chart that displays data based on pay history in your payroll, providing you with a useful overview of pay history broadly.

It can be organised by either:

  • Payday

  • Month

To change this:

  1. Click the dropdown menu below the bar chart

  2. Select the desired option:

    • Chart by payday

    • Chart by month

Pearls of Wisdom

This area is a message board, which cotains messages which you are able to click on to review

Interacting with the Pearls of Wisdom

When you click on a message it opens up a modal, which displays the message in full

This allows you to review the entire message, as the text contained will not always fit within the original summarised view of all current messages. Clicking OK, closes the modal the. This also marks the message as Read.

Messages can also be Marked for deletion, by clicking the target button at the top right of the message while it is in it's summarised view.

Messages provide colour indicators which inform you of the message's current status:

  • Unread - White background

  • Read - Grey background

  • Marked for deletion - Red background: will only delete upon logging out of the software

Clicking on the message while it is marked as either Read, or Marked for deletion will return the message to the Unread state with a white background.

There is also the ability to Mark all as read & Delete all.

Clicking on the Mark all as read option, changes the state of all current messages to Read with a grey background.

Clicking on the Delete all option, removes all current messages without the state changing to Marked for deletion

General automated notifications

There are various types of messages that will be produced with the aim to try and keep you up to date with:

  • Notifications

  • Warnings

  • Status updates

User generated reminders

You are able to set up reminders against employee records in the Staff screen, they will appear here just like other messages. If that's something you want to set up, review this guide:
