SmoothPay includes several less commonly used buttons that provide access to additional information, settings and functions. Although their purpose varies depending on where they appear, they behave consistently throughout the software. Understanding how they work will help you use them when needed.
Other buttons
These buttons generally allow you to:
Broad changes to data
Access additional advanced settings and controls
Provide further detail about particular functions or components
Spanner button
The function of the spanner button depends on the field or setting it is associated with. Spanner buttons are found in various places throughout the software, typically next to a field or setting.
Clicking it will either open a panel of options
Or, open a window allowing you to access and make changes to advanced settings
When a spanner button is used to apply broad changes across the payroll, create a backup before proceeding. These changes may be difficult or impossible to reverse without restoring a backup.
(i) button
The (i) button provides additional information about the field, setting or function it appears beside. These buttons appear throughout the software and are usually positioned beside the relevant field or setting.
The button appears in two forms: a standalone i, or an i within a circle.
Clicking the button may display the information in a panel on the right side of the screen.
Alternatively, the information may appear in a browser prompt.
Download button
The download button allows you to download a file associated with a field, record or selection. It appears in various places throughout the software and generally uses the same icon.
