What the Bank tab contains and what it does

The Bank tab contains the employer banking and bank-file settings used when producing direct credit files.

These settings determine the employer account used for direct credit payments and the format of the bank file produced by SmoothPay.

The fields and options available can vary significantly depending on the jurisdiction the payroll is configured for and the selected bank system.

Making changes

The Bank tab contains a detail panel only.

Changes are made using the Edit button.

Options, settings and fields

Bank system

  • Type: Dropdown menu

  • Purpose: Determines the format of the bank file produced by SmoothPay.

  • Dependency: The available options vary depending on the jurisdiction the payroll is configured for.

  • Other functionality: The selected bank system can affect which other banking fields are required and the file extension used when the bank file is produced.

Bank code

  • Type: Text field

  • Purpose: Records a bank code where one is required by the selected bank system.

  • Dependency: This field may not appear in every jurisdiction. Where available, whether it is required depends on the selected Bank system.

  • Other functionality: None

BSB+account

  • Type: Numeric field

  • Purpose: Records the employer bank account that direct credit transactions are paid from.

  • Dependency: Required when producing a bank file using the employer bank account.

  • Other functionality: None

User #

  • Type: Text field

  • Purpose: Records a bank user number where one is required by the selected bank system.

  • Dependency: This field may not appear in every jurisdiction. Where available, whether it is required depends on the selected Bank system.

  • Other functionality: None

Particulars

  • Type: Text field

  • Purpose: Records the particulars included with transactions passed through the generated bank file.

  • Dependency: None

  • Other functionality: The value is included in the bank file with the relevant banking transactions.

File name

  • Type: Text field

  • Purpose: Sets the default name of the bank file produced by SmoothPay.

  • Dependency: The required file format depends on the selected Bank system.

  • Other functionality: Some bank systems automatically apply or change the file extension required by the selected format.

Additional functionality

Information button

An Information button appears beside the File name field.

Clicking the button displays information about how the bank-file name is handled.
