Codes screen layout

Understanding the Codes screen layout

The Codes screen uses a three-part layout:

  • the code category column

  • the code column

  • a detail panel

The information displayed in the data column and detail panel changes according to the code category currently selected.

Code category column

The code category column appears on the left side of the screen.

It contains the available code categories, including:

  • Agencies and Super funds

  • Allowance codes

  • Sundry deduction codes

  • Work codes

  • Leave codes

  • Cost centre (account) codes

  • Job codes

  • Activity codes

  • Departments

  • Branches

  • Awards

  • GST rates

  • Roles and positions

  • Overheads

Selecting a category changes the records displayed in the data column and the information available in the detail panel.

The names of some categories may vary depending on the payroll configuration.

Code column

The code column appears between the code category column and the detail panel.

It lists the records belonging to the currently selected code category.

Selecting a record displays its information in the detail panel.

The information used to identify each record in the data column varies depending on the selected category.

Detail panel

The detail panel appears on the right side of the screen.

It displays the settings and information belonging to the record currently selected in the code column.

The fields, sections and controls displayed in this panel vary considerably between code categories.

Some code categories can also contain additional sections or nested tabs within the detail panel.

These can only be interacted with when interacting with a record by using the + button or the edit button.

Interaction bar

The interaction bar appears below the data column.

It provides the same function regardless of the category currently selected:

  • + button: Create a new code

  • - button: Delete a code - protected if the code has already been used as part of a pay process

  • Print button: Reporting outputs for the selected code

  • Edit button: Make changes to an existing code

A record count is also displayed at the right end of the interaction bar.
