Recalculate pays

Force a recalculation of all pays in the current pay when payroll values appear incorrect.

The Recalculate pays option is a troubleshooting tool that forces SmoothPay to recalculate all pay records in the current pay.

SmoothPay normally performs recalculations automatically at various stages of payroll processing, so this function is not usually required during normal payroll operation.

When to use Recalculate pays

Use Recalculate pays when values in the current pay appear to have been calculated incorrectly or a calculation may not have completed successfully.

This can occasionally occur if a process is interrupted, for example by:

  • closing the browser while SmoothPay is processing

  • losing the internet connection during a calculation

  • essentially anything else that would end your current session using the software prematurely

Because SmoothPay normally recalculates pays automatically, this option is primarily a troubleshooting step when the figures currently displayed do not appear correct.

Recalculating the current pay

To force a recalculation:

  1. Click Tools on the navigation bar.

  2. Select Recalculate pays.

SmoothPay begins recalculating all pay records in the current pay.

A notification is displayed while the recalculation is running.

When complete, SmoothPay displays:

Recalc all pays completed

What Recalculate pays affects

  • Recalculate pays applies only to the current pay.

  • It does not recalculate previously completed pay processes.

  • If recalculating the current pay does not resolve the issue, further investigation or

a different correction method may be required.

If, after performing Recalculate pays, you believe something is still wrong, please contact SmoothPay support for assistance. The support team can help assess and diagnose the issue.
