The Super tab contains the employee-level settings used to calculate and allocate employee and employer superannuation contributions.
The name of this tab varies by jurisdiction and may instead reflect the relevant national scheme or provident fund, such as KiwiSaver or FNPF. The available settings may also vary according to the rules that apply in the payroll’s jurisdiction.
SmoothPay applies the minimum contribution requirements configured for the jurisdiction. Where permitted, the employee or employer contribution settings can be adjusted above those minimums.

Making changes
The Super tab contains a detail panel only.
Click the Edit button to place the employee record into edit mode. Make the required changes, then select Save to apply them or Cancel to close the window without saving.
Options, settings and fields
The options, settings and fields commonly available on the Super tab are:

member number
employee contribution percentage
employer contribution percentage
costing
minimum contribution value
permanent exemption
Additional or alternative settings may appear according to the payroll jurisdiction.
Provider
Type: Dropdown menu
Purpose: Identifies the superannuation scheme, provident fund or contribution provider associated with the employee.
Dependency: The available selection depends on the payroll jurisdiction.
Other functionality: The provider may be fixed to the appropriate national scheme or selectable where more than one supported fund or scheme is available.
Member #
Type: Text field
Purpose: Records the employee’s membership or account number with the selected provider.
Dependency: A provider must apply to the employee.
Other functionality: None
Employee %
Type: Percentage field
Purpose: Records the percentage of eligible earnings deducted from the employee’s pay as their contribution.
Dependency: The available value and minimum contribution rate depend on the selected provider and the rules that apply in the payroll jurisdiction.
Other functionality: SmoothPay enforces the applicable minimum rate where required. A higher rate can be entered where permitted.
Employer %
Type: Percentage field
Purpose: Records the percentage of eligible earnings contributed by the employer.
Dependency: The available value and minimum contribution rate depend on the rules that apply in the payroll jurisdiction.
Other functionality: SmoothPay enforces the applicable minimum rate where required. A higher rate can be entered where permitted.
Cost to
Type: Dropdown menu
Purpose: Determines the costing destination used for the employer’s superannuation contribution.
Dependency: Available options depend on the expense codes under the Cost centre (account) codes in the Codes screen.
Other functionality: Allows the employer contribution cost to be allocated to the appropriate cost centre or costing code.
Minimum $
Type: Numeric field
Purpose: Records the minimum monetary contribution that must be calculated for the employee.
Dependency: The treatment and availability of this field depend on the applicable jurisdiction and scheme.
Other functionality: Where the contribution calculated from the applicable percentage is lower than this value, the minimum monetary amount is used instead.
Permanent exemption from super
Type: Tick box
Purpose: Identifies the employee as permanently exempt from superannuation contributions.
Dependency: Availability and use depend on the rules that apply in the payroll jurisdiction.
Other functionality: Prevents the applicable employee and employer superannuation contributions from being calculated for the employee.
