The Edit your user settings area is used to maintain the details associated with your SmoothPay user account.
From here, you can:
update your name, email address, and SMS number
enable or change two-factor authentication
change your username
change your password
Accessing your user settings
To open your user settings:
Click on your user name in the upper-right corner of SmoothPay.
Select Edit your user settings.
The Edit your user profile window will open.
Updating your user details
The upper section of the window contains the basic details associated with your user account.
You can update:
Name
Email: required for 2FA by email
SMS: required for 2FA by SMS
Make any required changes, then select Save.
Enabling two-factor authentication
Use the Two Factor Authentication dropdown to control whether two-factor authentication is used for your account.
The available options are:
Off
Email
SMS
If you select Email, the verification code is sent to the email address recorded in your user settings.
If you select SMS, the verification code is sent to the number recorded in the SMS field. The SMS number must include the applicable country code.
After selecting Email or SMS:
Select Test 2FA.
SmoothPay sends a verification code using the selected method.
Enter the code into the 2FA code field.
If the code is correct, the 2FA code field and Test 2FA button disappear.
If the code is not correct, the 2FA code field and Test 2FA button remain available so the test can be completed successfully.
Changing your username or password
You can change your username, password, or both at the same time from the lower section of the Edit your user profile window.
Changing your username
To change your username:
Enter the new username in Change username.
Enter the same username again in Repeat username.
Usernames must:
contain at least 4 characters
be entered using the correct case
match exactly in both username fields
Changing your password
To change your password:
Enter the new password in Change password.
Enter the same password again in Repeat password.
Passwords must:
contain at least 5 characters
be entered using the correct case
match exactly in both password fields
Validation indicators
A green tick means the applicable field has passed validation.
A red cross means the value does not currently meet the applicable requirement or, for a repeat field, does not match the corresponding value above.
To complete a change:
Username only: both username fields must show a green tick.
Password only: both password fields must show a green tick.
Username and password together: all four fields must show a green tick before saving.
Saving or cancelling changes
You can update every section of your user settings at the same time, or make changes to just one section.
Once you've updated what you need to:
Select Save to apply your changes.
Select Cancel to close the window without saving.
