Search boxes allow you to quickly locate records within a data column or list.
Instead of scrolling through every available record, you can enter part of a record’s details to narrow the results shown. Search boxes appear in various areas of SmoothPay and generally behave consistently throughout the software.
Search boxes always sit above the data column that they're linked to, but not all data columns provide a search box.
Using a search box
To use a search box, click into the field and start typing.
As you type, the list will narrow to show records that match your search. Search boxes can match records using:
a name
a code
a description
another value associated with the record
You do not usually need to enter the complete value. Entering part of it may be enough to locate the required record.
The data column that hosts search box should update immediately with the results
Search results
The search only changes which records are currently displayed. It does not remove or make changes to records that do not match the search.
When no matching records are found, the data column or list may appear empty. Check the spelling of your search or try entering less information.
Clearing a search
Remove the text from the search box to display the full list of records again.
Some search boxes may also include a clear button, which can be selected to remove the current search immediately.
