Filtering boxes

What filtering boxes are and what they do

Filtering boxes allow you to limit which records are displayed within a data column or list.

Unlike a search box, which looks for matching text or values, a filtering box display records that meet a particular condition or belong to a selected category.

Filtering boxes appear in only two areas in the software:

At the top of the staff list in the Staff screen

Within the Who to pay window (in Payrun screen) above the selectable employees

Using a filtering box

To use a filtering box, click the field and select the option you want to apply.

The list below will immediately update to show only employees who match the selected filter.

On the Staff screen, you can filter employees using details such as:

  • employment status

  • work pattern

  • pay type

  • pay frequency

  • recent payroll activity

In the Who to pay window, you can display all current staff or narrow the list by:

  • pay frequency

  • group code

You can find out more about group codes in the following guide:

  • <Group codes>

To return to the full list, open the filtering box and select the relevant option for displaying all current staff.

Filtered results

Applying a filter only changes which records are currently displayed. It does not remove or make changes to records that do not match the filter.

If no records meet the selected conditions, the data column or list may appear empty.

Summary

Filtering boxes allow you to control which records are displayed within a data column or list.

  • Select a filtering option to narrow the records shown.

  • Apply additional filters where available.

  • Clear the filters to return to the full list.
